Graduation Information for ILS students

Graduation at UMA is an exciting time, especially for the ILS students. Many of our students travel to campus for our Annual Friday Evening Celebrations, a party specially for Information and Library Service students.

You and your family and friends are invited to this annual event held in the library in honor of our ILS students. Students fly in from all over to celebrate their accomplishments. We have had students from Africa, Canada, California, Washington, Virginia, Florida and right here in Maine come in for this special event. Some have taken their family vacations at a house on the beach, hiked Mount Katahdin and explored the roughly enchanting Maine coast!

Where to Stay!

There are some hotels in the area, and for those more rural-seeking individuals there are a few Bed and Breakfast places as well.

HOTELS!

Best Western Plus (Civic Center Inn)-This hotel is the closest to campus and the civic center where UMA's graduation ceremonies are held. More of a "city" type stay, it is right off the highway and easy to find. (Willie Nelson stayed here during his concert tour as I am sure many other performers also do.)

Comfort Inn-Civic Center-Augusta-Is the next closest hotel to the University, just on the other side of the interstate. It has a 99 Restaurant as part of its building and is a pretty good place to stay.

The Senator Inn and Spa-The Senator Inn and Spa is a little bit more upscale accomodations with a GREAT restaurant, indoor swimming pool, spa and other ammenities. It's a class place to stay (but still affordable). It is one exit south of UMA, but also right off the highway and easy to get to. Their Sunday morning Breakfast Buffet's are LEGEND!

Quality Inn & Suites Evergreen Hotel: Another hotel an exit south of UMA, newly refurbished and another good place to stay.

BED & BREAKFAST

Maple Hill Farm & Conference Center-If you are looking for something a bit more rural, but not too far out, then this place might be worth a look. Some of our students have stayed here in the past and enjoyed the location. As you can see from their images, it is a bit more rural, but still only 15 minutes from the university and the capital.

THIS is an opportunity for you to visit UMA, meet your Professors and classmates face to face. Most importantly it is a chance to celebrate ALL you have accomplished and let us cheer you on. Plus, Maine is a GREAT place to visit.
